January

It was Templebar Tradfest last week in Dublin. There’s always a good buzz when it comes around. It’s a kinda of a ‘bringer-upper’ in an otherwise depressing January. The usual calibar of acts were performing throughout the city for the 4 day festival. I really wanted to see a few of the acts but it was hard, as their shows coincided with our own performances. The first night of Templebar Tradfest however was a special one. Myself and Booy took to the stage for our first big performance ever as The Finns. We were supporting Sharon Shannon and George Murphy. We kicked off the evenings entertainment at around 4pm and played for about an hour and a half. It started off a little empty there, as 4pm on a thursday isn’t a busy time in general in the venue, and people were possibly there to see Sharon Shannon at 6pm, and not The Finns… 🙂 🙂
But it filled up very nicely and by the time we were powering through some foot tappers there was almost a full house!
I think we were well recieved. We have been working hard on this little side project outside of Na Fianna.. and that gig was a nice result. We stuck around after and had a listen to Sharon Shannon and her band. They were amazing! And after that George Murphy invited on stage to play with him! He has some set of pipes on him. He played a few songs from his new #StableSessions Album that I really love. It was a great day, and a deadly start to 2017. I hope we can continue as we started!
